Espresso, Charlie, and Gus Update

Hellos, Everybunny!

We're enjoying a nice stretch of everybunny doing really well. I'm not sneezing; Charlie is eating, pooping, and bossing everybun around. And my hoomin is adjusting to not making salaaads for Gus and Charlie. Buntie Susan was right - Gus and Charlie are drinking more water - their water bowl has to be refilled much more often now!

So, we're slowly catching our breaths after last week. Now the plan is to enjoy the cold front that just got here, have more treats, do some arting, loafing around, and pose for a pic or two - if the snacks are right.

We'll keep you posted!

Hoppy Thanksgiving

Hellos, Everybunny!

Just a quick update to wish everybun a hoppy and safe holiday.
On M*nd*y, the v. e. t. at Avian and Animal Hospital discovered that  Charlie has what looks like a small hernia in the making in the lower part of her abdomen, close to where she was spayed. That was one suspected cause of her intermittent bouts of stasis.

Tuesday,  buntie Susan took Charlie to see Dr. Teed at Keystone Animal Hospital in Bradenton. Dr. Teed took an x-ray and discovered that Charlie might be passing a kidney stone or at least some crystals. And that's the best candidate for explaining that intermittent stasis. However, Dr. Teed was not concerned about that 2 cm possible hernia spot and did not recommend another surgery. At least not right away, considering Charlie struggled to recover from the last one.

So, we're monitoring  Charlie very closely, giving stronger pain medicine to facilitate easier passage of the stones. She's doing very well at the moment, has a good appetite, and is very active.

But now our salaaad days are pretty much over. Espresso, the murderizing, can haz greens. Charlie and I will have to make do with homemade treats from recovery food. Of course, there are bunnana slices and blueberries in them, but still.

My hoomin is trying to process all that. At this point, we're grateful just to have days and days with Charlie. And days with yours truly, and even with the murderizer.

Hugs to everybun out there, and we'll keep you posted!

The Bunday Evening Thumps

Good evening, Everybun!

Charlie bounced back to her usual self and behaved as if nothing ever happened. We're keeping an eye on her, of course, and we're keeping tomorrow's V. E. T. appointment.

We woke up to a power outage, and pretty soon, my hoomin started going out of his bun-loving mind. He mumbled something about "Putting more coal in the stove to warm up the place." Then something about going to "See grandma in the afternoon, on such a bright, sunny day." It's a good thing it didn't snow, or he would think it's X-mas or something.

Is it time to call the V. E. T. on him and make certain arrangements? They'll do it, you know - just dial the number and listen to the prompts.

This being the first cold weekend of the season, things feel even more surreal. This cold front arrived so late in the season that it made it feel like Halloween was just around the corner. And it is - only around the wrong corner.

And for something completely different - my V. E. T. visit last Tuesday went very well. I got a pawdicure, ear cleaning, and a thorough exam. Per my physician's recommendation, we got a bottle of "Physician's Choice" eyewash. We'll use that instead of saline solution, as saline has the potential to crystalize. And we got enough crystals in my nose. Once a week, I'll get a few drops in each eye and nostril, and we'll see how things go. Aside from that - I'm doing great.

And my loafer is manded. He actually did it - he finished it this morning.

Goodnight and good luck!
- Gus
